Public cloud and web hosting provider Krypt reviews

My blog finally backed online!! Due to a updating issue on PhotoVPS infrastructure, my virtual machine ran into unstable since Monday. I didn’t notice it till Wednesday. The virtual  machine got intermittently network connectivity issue, PhotoVPS engineers can only temporarily fix it.  I was struggled by the situation, finally I decided order a new virtual machine on Krypt. Krypt is ideally place for me since they are VMware certified partner, they helps VMware improves vCloud products and develops in public cloud market. The network performance is also the greatest from North American to China in US service providers, they have dedicate bandwidth to China Telecom.

Krypt provides two user interface for cloud users. One is my.krypt.com, you can submit ticket, order new product or manage account profile on the website. Another one is cloud.krypt.com, it’s native vCloud Director interface. You can manage virtual machines on it. Krypt offers two cloud models. The so called Cloud Server is actually virtual machine, you can manage power, VMware Tools and VM Console by vCloud Director interface if you order it. They also offer Cloud Pool, also call Resource Pool in VMware. You get dedicate CPU, memory, disk and network resources if you order it. For example, you order 2 vCPU, 6 GB vRAM, 100 GB disk and 1 TB network bandwidth. Then you can create new virtual machines in vCloud Director in cloud.krypt.com and allocate the computing resources to each machine as long as you have adequate computing resources. You also get ability to upload ISO to build OS.

Compare to other cloud competitors in the market, I feel VMware product is more reasonable for enterprise customers. To be a end user of web hosting market, vCloud interface  is too complicate than OnApp. I think the biggest benefit of vCloud is integration, it’s able to integrate with enterprise level applications such as  ServiceNowRemedy and SAP. But for me, I’m VMware guy, I like it, I familiar with it. So I choose it. :-)

Krypt also provides backup solution based on Veeam. Entire virtual  machine can be protected on demand or schedule. You are able to recovery entire virtual machine, single virtual disk or single file on demand. I don’t have much experience on Veeam, but I tested their performance monitor tools long time back. It’s a nice company that they listen to customer’s voice  and change quickly if there is a problem in their products. If you are the one like me just create WordPress blog website, I would recommend you try ValuePress, it’s alternative to backup blog just start from $5/mo. The starting plan satisfies personal blog like mine.

Okay, that’s all I have at this moment, I’m so glad I have a vSphere based virtual machine on public cloud. It’s low end virtual machine but enough for a newbie geek. :-)
