NetApp released Virtual Storage Console (VSC) 6.1 for vCenter 6.0. The solution is only support vSphere Web Client now. I did some testing on my lab, faced a very special case.

I assumed give storage team full permission for VSC but limited permission on vCenter, Hosts and virtual machines. VSC creates pre-defined role when it connects to vCenter Server after installation. I noticed there is a “VSC Administrator” role on vCenter Server. I grant a testing account with the role on a ESXi cluster. But I didn’t see VSC icon on home page after logged in by testing account. The account was able to restore/backup on the farm without any problem. Eventually I figured out that you must grant the account/group same role on vCenter level without propagate to children.
